Production of high quality stockfish in northern Norway takes place from February to May. The dominant blowfly species (Diptera: Calliphoridae) with adults present during stockfish production were Calliphora vicina and Protophormia terraenovae. Larval collections identified the damage-causing species to be C. vicina. Other saprophagous blowfly species were only found after the production period. Fish dried in sun-exposed locations experienced more damage than fish in shaded locations, and the risk of damage was higher in fish dried later in the production period. Yellow sticky traps and funnel traps baited with dimethyl trisulphide were tested for their potential in mass trapping. Sticky traps caught flies during early spring, while funnel traps increased in efficiency closer to summer. Attraction to dimethyl trisulphide was found to be significantly higher for C. vicina compared to P. terraenovae, and the catch of C. vicina consisted of 92% females. The catch of female flies during the critical drying period consisted of 5–30% of the estimated number of flies having caused damage. The target specificity with high female catches and the cost efficiency of these traps indicate that mass trapping can be used as an integrated part of a management program to reduce damage from blowflies in stockfish producing areas.  相似文献

Turbot, Scophthalmus maximus, larvae were start‐fed with formulated feeds containing soya phospholipids (SP), marine phospholipids (MP) or triacylglycerol (TAG). The levels of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were the same in the MP and TAG feeds. The control group was given rotifers (R). The larvae were offered feed from day 4 post‐hatch. Larvae fed formulated feed with added MP showed good initial growth and there were no significant differences in weight on day 6 between this group and the group given rotifers. Using feed with added TAG enriched with EPA and DHA gave no growth at all. Using SP as the lipid source in the feed resulted in reduced initial growth. Electron microscopical examination of enterocytes was performed on larval intestines on day 6. Larvae fed MP, TAG or rotifers had normal looking enterocytes with numerous normal looking mitochondria. In the enterocytes of larvae fed SP the mitochondria appeared swollen with a translucent matrix and fragmented cristae. Thus, SP or TAG appear not to be suitable as the sole source of lipids and/or phospholipids in start‐feed for turbot larvae and the effects of MP are not solely caused by high levels of EPA and DHA.  相似文献

Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) were fed fishmeal protein for 46 days, and 500 g kg−1 of fishmeal protein substituted with meal from Northern krill (Meganyctiphanes norvegica). No differences were observed in weight gain, length gain, feed conversion or specific growth rate between the groups that could be attributed to dietary manipulation. The adherent microbiota in the hindgut of the two rearing groups were further investigated. By substituting fishmeal with krillmeal, the total viable counts of aerobic and facultative aerobic bacteria colonizing the hindgut of Atlantic salmon increased from 8.5 × 104 to 2.2 × 106. Furthermore, dietary krillmeal affected the adherent hindgut microbiota. The Gram‐positive bacteria Carnobacteria piscicola, Microbacterium oxydans, Microbacterium luteolum and Staphylococcus equorum spp. linens and the Gram‐negatives Psychrobacter spp. and Psychrobacter glacincola were not isolated from hindgut of fish fed the krill diet. On the other hand, Pseudomonas fulgida, Pseudomonas reactans and Stenotrophomonas maltophila were not isolated from the control group fed fishmeal. Acinetobacter lwoffi, which is not normally found in the fish gut, was isolated from both feeding groups. Transmission electron microscopy showed bacteria‐like profiles between the hindgut microvilli in both feeding groups indicating autochthonous microbiota. When fish were fed the krill diet, hindgut enterocytes were replete with numerous irregular vacuoles. These vacuoles were not observed in fish fed the fishmeal protein.  相似文献

Purpose

The purpose of the current study was to present a 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model that can be used to predict long-term (11 years) bed changes in a reservoir due to sedimentation and dredging and that can be done with a reasonable computational time (18 h) on a desktop computer.

Materials and methods

The numerical model solved the Navier-Stokes equations on a 3D non-orthogonal unstructured grid to find the water velocities and turbulence. The convection-diffusion equation for suspended sediment transport was solved to find the sediment deposition pattern. Bed changes were computed and used to adjust the grid over time. Thereby, bed elevations over time were computed. The effect of dredging was also included in the model, and how this affected the bed elevation changes. The main feature of the numerical model enabling a reasonable computational time was implicit numerical methods giving the possibility to use long time steps.

Results and discussion

The results were compared with annually measured bed elevation changes in the reservoir over 11 years. This gave 11 figures of bed elevation changes, due to the combined effect of sedimentation and dredging. Comparing the annually computed and measured bed changes, there was a fair agreement for most of the years. The main deposition patterns were reproduced. The amount of sediments removed in three dredging campaigns were also computed numerically and compared with the measured values. Parameter tests were done for the grid size, fall velocity of the sediments, cohesion, and sediment transport formula. The deviation between computed and measured dredged sediment volumes was less than 16% for all these four parameters/formulas.

Conclusions

The 3D CFD numerical model was able to compute water flow, sediment transport, and bed elevation changes in a hydropower reservoir over a time period of 11 years. Field measurements showed reasonable agreement with the computed bed elevation changes. The results were most sensitive to the sediment particle fall velocity and cohesion of the bed material.

Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus L.) were fed two isocaloric diets supplemented with 15% linseed oil or soybean lecithin, and subsequently analysed for ultrastructural changes in various intestinal segments (pyloric caeca region, midgut and hindgut) as well as apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) of the diets. The ADC of dry matter, lipid and individual fatty acids were always highest in fish fed the soybean lecithin diet. In hindgut for example, ADC of lipid and dry matter were 94 and 96%, respectively, in fish fed the soybean lecithin diet compared to 85 and 94% in fish fed linseed oil.There were major ultrastructural differences in the enterocytes between fish fed the two experimental diets. In char fed the linseed oil diet there were substantial accumulations of lipid droplets in the enterocytes from the pyloric caeca and midgut but not in hindgut. These accumulations were not observed in fish fed the soybean lecithin diet. In some cases, deposition of fat in the enterocytes was so great that it resulted in epithelial damage with lipid droplets and cell debris appearing in the intestinal lumen. These changes are likely to be pathological and may lead to intestinal malfunction and represent a major infection route to pathogenic bacteria. On the basis of these results it is suggested that endogenous phospholipid synthesis is insufficient to maintain lipoprotein synthesis in Arctic char when fed diets containing high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acid of total lipid, and that phospholipids should be supplied with such diets.  相似文献
